Microsoft ends Teams Rooms support for Neat Gen 1 devices in September 2027, and Neat reports that Gen 1 devices are no longer receiving critical security patches. Neat's Gen 2 devices run Android 13 or 15 and carry a certified support path through October 2032. If your rooms run Gen 1 hardware, the best time to plan the refresh is while it is still a line item and not an emergency
September 2027 is the date to circle.
That is when Microsoft Teams Rooms support for Neat Gen 1 devices ends. Microsoft has already extended its Android certification timelines once. Planning around another extension means budgeting on someone else's calendar.
Google Meet runs on its own schedule. Google publishes an end-of-Meet-support date for each device, with best-effort support for about a year after. If your rooms run Meet, check each device's date.
Gen 2 changes the math. Every Gen 2 device runs Android 13 or 15, all with a path to at least Android 15, which keeps them certified through October 2032.
Nothing dramatic on day one. The room still turns on. The camera still finds faces. That is the trap.
Unsupported devices stop getting the security patches that keep them in line with IT policy. A meeting room becomes a network exposure and an audit question. Platform updates keep shipping while the hardware stops keeping up, and the support ticket you open gets the answer nobody wants: that device is out of support.
Here is how it plays out. The 10:15 a.m. board call starts, the far end freezes, and your team spends the first ten minutes troubleshooting a device the platform no longer certifies. Glitchy the Gopher loves an unpatched room. He moves in quietly and waits for the most important meeting of the quarter.
Sharper cameras, better audio pickup, fewer cables, and more display options. Here is the lineup by room.
Neat Bar (Generation 2) covers huddle, small, and medium rooms. It adds a 50MP camera with dynamic speaker focus, a more powerful CPU in a slimmer housing, dual-screen support at 4K, and audio pickup out to 16 feet (5 meters).
Neat Bar Pro is built for medium, large, and hybrid-first spaces. It pairs a dual camera system with 16x zoom and full-range audio, and supports up to three displays on Zoom or two on Microsoft Teams.
Neat Board Pro is the 65-inch all-in-one for medium and large rooms, common areas, and training rooms. Next to the Gen 1 Neat Board, the jump is clear:
| Feature | Neat Board (Gen 1) | Neat Board Pro |
| Camera | 12MP | (2) 50 MP Sensors |
| Field of View | 113° | 70° to 113° (variable) |
| Mic Array | No Tracking | Voice Tracking |
| Speakers | Mono | 3-channel directional |
| Single-Cable BYOD | No | Yes, USB-C with 90W charging |
| External Display | No | Yes, HDMI out |
| External Audio | No | Yes |
| Adjustable Height | No | Yes, with adaptive stand or mount |
| TAA Compliant | No | Yes |
Neat Board 50 and Neat Board 32 cover smaller spaces. Board 50 is a 50-inch touch display for huddle spaces and small to medium rooms, and it ships with a table stand and the Neat Active Marker. Board 32 is a 32-inch 4K touch device with a 140° camera for focus rooms and desks. It doubles as a desktop monitor with single-cable laptop charging.
Neat Pad Gen 2 and Neat Pad Pro run the room as a controller or a scheduler. Pad Pro steps up to a 10-inch screen.
The whole lineup is certified for Microsoft Teams, Zoom, and Google Meet.
Easier than most IT teams expect. Neat designed Gen 2 to drop into Gen 1 rooms.
In a Neat Bar room, the new bar goes onto the brackets already on the wall. You can keep your existing Neat Pad or move to Pad Gen 2 or Pad Pro. Neat also offers a mount adapter for Board Pro, so ask us whether your current Board stands or mounts can stay in service.
Gen 2 also trims the cabling. USB-C and a network-based design mean fewer boxes behind the display and fewer things to trace when something goes wrong.
Then there is the budget side. The Neat Trade-Up Program discounts Gen 2 hardware when you trade in eligible video equipment: up to 10% on Neat Bar 2 and Bar Pro, and up to 5% on Board 50 and Board Pro. Program terms come from Neat, so we will confirm eligibility for your specific gear.
Add to it. Gen 2 is built to scale past what a single bar can reach.
Neat Center sits in the middle of the table and extends Neat Symmetry with 360° audio and video, so remote participants see faces instead of the backs of heads. One cable handles network and power, and long tables can run two.
Neat Focus defines camera zones so presenters at the front of a training room get framed for the far end.
Third-party audio over USB connects Neat Bar Pro or Board Pro to a DSP, ceiling mics and speakers, or wireless microphones.
HDMI out with audio feeds a second display, where an audio de-embedder and amplifier can drive room speakers.
This is where integration earns its keep. The device is the easy part. Making it sound right in a 20-seat room with glass walls is the job.
Start with an inventory, not a purchase order.
That is the work, from concept to completion: assessing the rooms you have, designing the upgrade path, deploying it, and supporting it after.
Not sure which of your rooms are still on Gen 1, or what each one should become? We will review your Neat rooms and map the upgrade before the deadline makes the decision for you.
