Project Overview

The L.L. Bean creative team reached out to DGI indicating they were working on designs for a new concept store and had questions about material options, printing techniques and size limitations. This sort of question is not uncommon for our team as we often partner with our clients working with them to discover the best solutions, substrates and print technique to achieve their desired creative vision. After preliminary discussions, we received initial concept designs and together we brainstormed on various material ideas and started producing samples using their files on different material options. The end result was finding a solution that worked with their new fixtures and that had the visual appeal they were going for. They wanted to incorporate several textures, create depth and explore innovative ways to use the mediums. Lastly, the final graphics needed to be easily changed out at the store level and we wanted to be sure replacement graphics would be economical to ship as many of the graphics would get changed out quarterly. The new stores use a combination of permanent graphics as well as seasonal graphics including: custom printed brushed silver panels, dimensional lettering, cut vinyl decals and direct UV print to Ultraboard with custom cleats, dye sublimated fabric banners, and custom printed thin acetates with Stand-Off hardware.
