Audio/Visual Drafter

Responsible for drafting technical documentation for DGI and ACT teams to better communicate the install plan,
architectural coordination, infrastructure coordination, system design, and product details to our internal team as
well as our clients.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work directly with DGI and ACT Engineers to receive new requests for a drafting need
  • With the assistance of the corresponding engineer and manager, maintain a firm understanding of
    priority of requests based around size of project, timeline, and type of opportunity.
  • Use the provided project information (BOM, SOW, sketches, pictures etc.) to create and develop the
    drawing package in DGI/ACT’s standard AutoCAD and Revit output

    • These standard drawing packages will include, but are not limited to: Cover Page, Legend,
      Responsibility Chart, Key Plan, Equipment/Electrical Floor Plan, Equipment/Electrical RCP,
      Equipment/Electrical Elevation, Conduit/Cable Riser, Signal Flow, and Equipment Detail
    • On these drawing packages with the above pages, you will be responsible for drafting details
      including but not limited to: drawing revision tracking, junction box sizing/custom labeling/specific
      location, conduit sizing/custom labeling/specific location, AV power requirements/specific location
      with circuit needs, AV networking requirements/specific location, architectural blocking
      requirements/specific location, potential ADA infringements, detailed equipment representation
      with specific location and mounting plan, sight line representations, audio/video/control/network
      system flows with customized cabling numbers and representative/reflective of junction box custom
      numbers and locations
    • Use knowledge and understanding of spaces architecturally and as it applies to AV to make on the fly
      critical decisions on placements, infrastructure needs, and conflicts with adjacent trades found in AV
      package and CDs in tandem with bringing it to the attention of your corresponding engineer
  • Deliver final product to engineer via PDF package and corresponding AutoCAD or Revit files
  • Remain available for updates to drawing package as needed and requested by the engineer
  • Create product specification submittal packages in the format required by AV Consultant
  • Create color selection submittals to be delivered to Architect on corresponding project
  • Identify and communicate time restraints and resource needs to manager/team if and when workload
    becomes too much
  • Be available and able to train other internal AutoCAD and REVIT users as needed
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of an effective and efficient drafting workflow,
    corresponding reference libraries, and standards
  • Maintain full capabilities in AutoCAD and REVIT programs as functionality changes

 

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience working with AutoCAD and REVIT
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience working directly on Audio/Visual drawing packages
  • General understanding of the AV Consultant’s and Integrator’s roll in the grand scheme of a construction
    project
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer

 

Accountability:

The Audio/Visual Drafter will be generally accountable to the Director of Engineering. However, they will have daily
task-based accountability to the engineers they are working with on project specific tasks

  • Ability to demonstrate planning, organizing, and implementing skills that allow the successful
    completion of a project by a specific due date
  • This position requires you to be available to your team as required mainly

 

Physical & Environmental Requirements:

  • Sitting, and the use of hands and fingers for extended periods of time
  • Some light lifting of objects may be required
  • Reaching, grasping, and carrying activities may also be required
