AV RFP/Bid Response Engineer

Responsible for working directly with the RFP team to review from a technical perspective, develop RFIs, estimate
labor, and assist in forming a complete and accurate response. If awarded the project, maintaining involvement
throughout the submittal and build process to oversee the proper development and delivery of applicable submittals,
and to oversee the proper response to bulletins released throughout the build.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Review full RFP and identify key documents/technical information needed to formulate compete
    response
  • Identify missing or incomplete information preventing a complete response
  • Identify discrepancies in AV system as portrayed between various documents in RFP
  • When applicable, attend site walkthroughs to gain a better understanding of the physical requirements
    of the space
  • Formulate formal RFIs to be sent to our contract holder that will help clear up identified questions in
    review process in the effort to put together a complete response
  • Identify risks in the AV system that are to be assessed by the team to be mitigated accordingly
  • Make critical decisions based around potential VE opportunities and present options to team when
    applicable
  • Estimate DGI internal labor to ensure the proper time is proposed to complete the full required scope
  • Collect and distribute necessary technical documentation to appropriate vendors to obtain any custom
    quotes as applicable
  • Attend bid interviews with the external stakeholders of the project as the technical representative on the
    project for DGI
  • If/Once awarded the project, work with a dedicated Engineering Assistant(s) to oversee the timely and
    accurate execution of the following responsibilities according to the bid specifications:

    • Production of the necessary submittals as applicable. These would include, but are not limited to spec
      sheet submittals, color selection submittals and shop drawing submittals
    • Review and updates to BOM as necessary to ensure a complete installation and functionality of the
      system according to the bid specifications
    • Response to bulletins issued as applicable and necessary including RFIs, change orders, and drawing
      package updates
    • Production of technical closeout documentation including system as-built drawings

Other duties as required or assigned by management

 

Qualifications:

  • Avixa CTS-D preferred
  • Minimum 5 years in AV industry
  • Minimum 3 years of Design and/or Project Engineering experience
  • Complete understanding of general RFP/Bid process
  • Direct previous experience with large scale AV RFPs
  • Wide range of AV manufacturer knowledge and familiarity
  • Knowledge, experience, and comfortability working with construction documentation including
    Architecture, Mechanical, Electrical, Furniture, and Tel Data Sets
  • Knowledge, experience, and comfortability with a wide range of AV project types (Corporate buildout,
    Higher Education, New Construction, Retrofit, Outdoor spaces, Large Auditoriums, etc.)
  • Knowledge, experience, and comfortability with AV as it relates to a physical space and its architectural
    and infrastructure needs
  • Working knowledge of Bluebeam and Autodesk Viewer tools for viewing, marking up and searching RFP
    documentation
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer

 

Accountability:

The AV RFP/Bid Response Engineer will be generally accountable to the Director of Engineering but will work
directly and be accountable on their day-to-day tasks with the RFP team.

 

Travel:

Only required on a per project basis if requested by client to be in person for onsite walk through or bid interview.

    completion of a bid response by a specific due date
  • Availability to your team as required; primarily between 9am-5pm Monday through Friday. However,
    extended hours may be requested

 

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

  • Stand, walk, sit, and use of hands and fingers
  • Transportation to site as applicable
  • Adequate home office space conducive to productivity without interruption
  • Some light lifting of objects
