Field Service Technician

Job Summary:

The AV Field Service Technician will work closely with the DGI Support Team to provide onsite service and support to clients at client sites. The AV Service Tech will be providing an exceptional customer experience with the emphasis on restoring functionality to the client systems. Candidates must have an extensive audio and video background and a proven ability to troubleshoot complex audio, video, and control systems.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide onsite support for client AV systems, including troubleshooting and repair.
  • Conduct daily functionality checks on audio-visual and conferencing systems.
  • Perform diagnostics using AV test tools (e.g., multimeters, network analyzers).
  • Interpret and follow AV system diagrams and blueprints.
  • Terminate, test, and label AV cabling and connections.
  • Conduct client-facing meetings and deliver solution training as needed.
  • Complete service documentation and communicate effectively with internal teams.
  • Utilize hand and power tools to perform service-related tasks.
  • Provide feedback to engineering or project teams based on field observations.

 

Requirements:

  • Experience troubleshooting commercial AV systems in real-world environments.
  • Strong independent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Ability to read and interpret AV drawings and blueprints.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and self-motivated with the ability to work under minimal supervision.
  • Capable of presenting solutions to clients and training end users.
  • Familiarity with diagnostic tools (Fluke meters, ohmmeters, Wireshark).
  • Competency with hand and power tools.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.

 

Qualifications:

  • Prior experience in AV, video conferencing, or related integration fields.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office 365.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Excellent customer service orientation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to handle high-pressure situations calmly and professionally.

  • AVIXA CTS & CTS-1
  • AVIXA Essentials of AV Technology
  • Crestron 101
  • Syn-Aud-Con Course 50
  • Audio DSP – All manufacturers
  • Unified Communications (Zoom, MS Teams)

 

Physical, Mental and Environmental Requirements:

  • Must be able to stand, walk, sit, and use hands and fingers.
  • Occasional light lifting, reaching, grasping, and carrying required.
  • Work occurs primarily indoors with occasional outdoor tasks subject to seasonal conditions.
  • Moderate noise levels typical of AV installations.
  • Travel to job sites and out-of-state training as needed.
