Project Overview

DGI was asked for solutions that would allow the Peabody Essex Museum to brand interior and exterior spaces to promote upcoming exhibitions. Graphics needed to be changed out on a rolling basis around an ever-changing exhibition schedule and had to be installed during off hours. Our project managers and installers worked closely with the Peabody Essex Museum’s design teams to meet their needs and bring their vision through to completion.

Challenges

  • Extensive proofing to find the best ink opacity and printing method for readability on windows
  • Surface testing for proper adhesion and application on exterior columns
  • Accurate color and image reproduction of artwork
  • Hardware solutions for dimensional displays
  • Weather dependent and after hours installations
  • Deadline driven to meet exhibition schedule

Solution

DGI’s team performed site visits of all areas, taking detailed measurements and creating templates for graphic layouts and installation. The surfaces to receive graphics ranged from glass and granite to rough sidewalk and brick, so choosing the correct media for adhesion was critical. Many of the graphics required an exterior application which is weather dependent and requires a fluid schedule. These projects become well-curated installations of their own to stay on track and not miss the exhibition opening!
